About

About us

We are a private family practice based on long term health principles. This is what our practice has been doing for over a century. We also enjoy all the advances in treatments such as  crowns, bridges, veneers, implants, occlusal adjustments, root treatments, gum treatments, prevention and of course a team approach to your care.
Basically we love the diversity of treating patients as "a whole",whilst bringing to bear decades of treatments, experience and solutions. We do not subscribe to the idea that one dental discipline is above others as a treatment choice. In our opinion our wide range of techniques is there to allow a patient to choose what works best for them.
We are also take a serious perspective  on the science of "oral health" which means that we have seen dozens of pointless fads and fake news come and go over the years. Many patients can be mislead by magazine or internet info-advertising arising from "one trick exponents" of particulat techniques or fads.
We will only treat patients if we believe they understand the "pros and cons" and its not unheard of to find that minimal or even "no treatment" is the best solution....sometimes!

Our Team

Stephen    A rather pleasant time when I  get to just chat to a patient over the phone.
Nina   Its not every day that  you find that dentistry fits with Star Wars. At the moment our galaxy does feel as if it is a long way away in distance and time.
(Stephen wrote this for me)

Marion, our senior Nurse

"I started my dental nursing career in 2014, I have always enjoyed caring for people and I'm very passionate about dentistry. I have learnt so much since working with Nina and Stephen and I believe we all work very well as a team and create a welcoming and professional environment for patients."

Heena, our soon to qualify traineee.

I enjoy dental nursing because it’s a very rewarding job as I get to look after patients from when they enter the building, to when they leave. I’m able to communicate confidently with patients and aid them when being treated. I also have a good relationship with my colleagues and honestly believe we make a great team! We’re very efficient and communicate really well. We all work very hard to help patients achieve the best oral hygiene and to have a very good experience when they enter the practice.

The "new normal" of Coronavirus safeguards. Full ventillated hoods with powered, filtered air supplies. Fully disposable plastic aprons with surgeries stripped to basic essentials. Marion and Stephen trying to look as minimally scary as possible?

Coronavirus takes us to a new level and extreme level of cross-infection control. The ventillated and filtered air provides us with a high level of safety against Coronavirus.

The practice is zoned with maximum protective protocols centred on our surgeries and ground floor.

This is an I-Q Air a Swiss built "hospital grade" viral air filter which filters the air in our surgery creating clean air effectively beyond any previous standards.

During the Pandemic we are asking patients to use our staff car park (behind our practice, access on Gray's Road)  as we only allow one patient or one pateint and an essential guardian into the building at any on time. When we return to more normal times then you will find that Harbourne has multiple excellent pay car parks just off the main High Street on both sides behind the main shops. The map above shows them quite well.
