                                                CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC          Updated 27/10/2020

We started seeing patients in October, aimed primarily at dental emergencies or urgent cases. We are now concerned by the Coronavirus "second wave" which is increasing rapidly. Dental procedures involve sprays, aerosols (AGP's) and patient proximity all of which substantially increase transmission risk.

We have installed hospital grade Swiss air filtration and are working under filtered powered hoods but we need you to work with us to reduce the overall risk.

For future appointments, we now require that patients behave as though they are shielding before any dental appointment with us as would be the case if attending a Covid free hospital Area (Green Zones). This means no pubs or restaurants or hospital visits for 14 days before your appoinment and minimal socialisation.

We do not accept the validity of "Rules of 12 or Rules of 6" as set out by the government.

Our best protection for ourselves and for all our patients is to try to avoid treating any sympomatic or asymptomatic Covid cases.

Covid obviously does not spread randomly....most infection occurs through social contact particularly inside buildings with poor ventilation. Hands account for a large amount of viral transmission. Masks and social distancing and hand washing are key elements for the protection of everyone.

Current figures show that some of the public are largely ignoring the basic safeguards and Covid infections are rising dramatically. We will close the practice as we did in March if the background infection rate exceeds 1 in 200 or when community covid levels make it appropriate to do so. We did not wait for government advice earler in the year and we will not wait this time either.

In the end we have to make sensible professional evaluations on this fast moving situation.
